Little did I know 42 days would change my life so drastically, at age 54! This challenge has not only taught me the value of nutrition, but it has pushed me to recognize stepping outside of my comfort zone would have such amazing results. When the 42 Day Challenge started, I was a newbie. I had never taken an Empower class as I was still learning so much of Classic and honestly, I was afraid I couldn't do it. Fear of the unknown!! But, I was determined. I pushed myself to 4 Classic and 2 Empower classes each week of the challenge and it showed me I COULD DO IT and it has helped to build my self confidence tremendously. In addition to the InBody results, I am completing this challenge with a whole new outlook on food and I'm more determined than ever to remain consistent in my workouts. I feel fantastic!! In the past 90 days since I took my very 1st class, I have made some great friends and this community has been beyond encouraging and supportive. Last but not least, I cannot say enough about Pure Barre The Woodlands owners and instructors ... they have changed my life!! They truly are the BEST around! - SONYA LOPEZ
February was my 1 year anniversary of doing Pure Barre, and what a fun year it has been! I chose a before picture that was the moment for me when I knew I needed to get back into a healthy lifestyle. I was 6 months post partem and dealing with all the feels that we face after giving birth. I had lost a lot of baby weight right after baby was born, but through poor eating choices and desperate attempts to keep breastfeeding I put on what I lovingly called the “hard to lose” pounds. It took a while to see the physical changes, but the emotional changes were felt quickly. Going from not being able to do one sit up at the beginning to being able to hold a 90 second plank gave me confidence. I felt empowered (which is the point of Empower, right?) and confident in the skin I was in. Pure Barre has given me a community (shout out to all the lunch time crew), 50 minutes of time to disconnect and challenge myself, and overall a healthier happier woman. For the challenge, I met my goal of working out every week at least 4 times. The food portion was hard, and cannot claim I did exceptionally well but still saw change in the 42 days. From the body scan, saw a decrease in percent body fat (wooohoo!) and an increase in skeletal muscle mass. More than happy with the results! Appreciate all the recipes and encouragement that was seen within the group. Have learned a lot of helpful changes that will better my family.
- ERICA FRISBIE After having my final InBody scan performed, I lost 5.2% body fat and am completely blown away! This whole experience has changed the way I view my body. I've always had real issues with body dysmorphia and have never liked the way that I look, no matter what I've done. Despite that I still have a long way to go with loving my body and how I look, I have never been happier in my skin. 7 months of Pure Barre, down nearly 15 lbs and tons of inches. I'm obsessed and so thankful to have found something that I genuinely feel works for me. Thank you Pure Barre The Woodlands for doing what you do and for making it feel like a second home. Although I technically gained less than a pound during the challenge, I decreased my percentage of body fat by 2% by replacing fat with MUSCLE! If this isn’t a testimony to GET OFF THE SCALE and instead find out what you are truly made of by measurements the InBody machine provides, I don’t know what is! I’ve seen some major shifts in just the way my clothes fit, with my “skinny stuff” even being loose now. I feel stronger, I have more energy than I did before, and I am even sleeping better and more sound. Can’t wait to see more results as I continue this lifestyle. Thank you Pure Barre The Woodlands for doing this for us, and thanks to all of you who participated in the challenge for the encouragement! See you at the Barre!
- BRANDIE JOY I started Pure Barre in 2013. I was at a point in my life where I needed to find a workout that I could commit to. I immediately fell in love with the workout and the community of women that attended. It was great for my mind and my body. I noticed some pretty great changes in my body and lost some weight but still had a ways to go and had really not changed my eating habits. Fast forward to the summer of 2016 when we moved to Texas. Moving is stressful. I knew nothing about Texas but I knew I had to find a PB asap. I joined right away and started back into a familiar routine. In January of 2017 PBTW announced a Whole30 Challenge. I knew I needed to do something to clean up my eating habits. However, I was so nervous to commit to 30 days when I was a terrible veggie eater. We got the book and I started reading it and was completely convinced I would fail but would still give it shot. Not only did I complete the Whole30 with reintro but I loved it and how I felt! Along with the PB workouts I felt better than I had in YEARS. Fast forward to 2018 when we did a 42 day challenge. For this we didn’t have to commit to anything except healthy eating and remove sugars, take it easy on the gluten and carbs. After Whole30 I knew this was manageable. We were eating pretty healthy for the most part but I still had areas that could use improvement. Once again this challenge pushed me to do my best. We did a before and after In Body Scan and I could not believe the results. Five lbs of fat gone. I was doing 2 classes a day 4 to 5 times a week and really feeling great. Just before the challenge was over I was at a conference and my friend had taken some pics. I couldn’t believe it was me. I HATE pictures because I was not comfortable how I looked. This challenge really taught me how to love my body again and treat it with the utmost respect. PBTW is an amazing studio. I wouldn’t be where I am today without the incredible support system they have created. In a way they have completely changed my life and how I look at food and I couldn’t be more grateful.

For me this challenge was not about a number on the scale or losing weight, it was about challenging myself to step out of my comfort zone when it comes to food. I did not realize that all my hard work in class was being compromised by the poor food choices I was making. I am getting married this summer and my goal is to feel the most confident I can on my wedding day. Some of the food choices I make just make me feel gross and unsatisfied. Through this challenge I have learned a whole set of new recipes that I will now be able to incorporate into my everyday life. Combining the "smarter" food choices with pushing myself to attend more Pure Barre classes, I have seen and felt an increase in my overall muscle strength and confidence. I can honestly say that for the past 1 1/2 years of doing Pure Barre I walk out of the studio feeling more and more confident in myself. Not just because it makes me feel confident in my body but also because of the community of women that support each other and the mental recharge it gives me for my busy life. - KATIE BAIRD
After completing my end of challenge InBody scan, I was pretty excited with my results! I wasn't doing this challenge to lose much weight, but to really push myself with my workouts and eating habits and to gain more muscle. I lost 3.5 pounds of body fat and gained 2.5 pounds of muscle, which is the smallest/leanest/strongest I've ever been, even pre-baby! I'm starting to see a lot of changes and feel the positive effects of those changes and I can actually see my biceps pop when the teachers tell us to watch our arm muscles pop In the mirrors. I am so thankful to have been a part of the challenge with women who shared their struggles, successes, and stories along the way and am even more thankful to PBTW for giving us the tools to help us create a healthier lifestyle for us and our families!! My final InBody Scan results were awesome...I lost weight 8lbs, yahoo!!! I am so happy I lost weight because it's been tough to lose the baby weight I continued to carry from both of my babies. On top of that the improvement in my diet the last 42 days has played a tremendous role in my discoid lupus diagnosis by decreasing inflammation and redness on my scalp and body and helping to spout more hair as well!!
Honestly coming from a Filipino background whose family eats rice for every meal, I thought I was going to have a very difficult time with the challenge. However, I was so motivated during these 42 days that I put the "blinders" on, and no matter what my family was eating and dangling in my face I said NO and I am so glad I did!! I am now addicted to eating clean and Pure Barre, and I don’t want to stop! I love it!!! I feel great, I feel stronger, my clothes are fitting loose, my energy levels have increased ( despite still breastfeeding at night and being woken up multiple times at night) my wedding ring is loose now, I went my bra size has gone down from 42-40 to 36!! Last year when I kept seeing Pure Barre in Hughes Landing I told my husband over and over that I want to try Pure Barre, and I am so so so grateful I finally had the courage to walk in the doors to try it! It is a great community of real like minded motivated people!! I am so thankful to be a part of this great community, thank you to all the instructors and bar tenders who put so much time and effort into this and is always there to help, lots of love to all! This challenge is exactly what I needed to push/kick my butt into gear and it happened at the right time when I asked God to help me!! I still have lots of work to do but this is the start to my new lifestyle of eating healthy, healing myself and working out at Pure Barre, I am so hooked! I can’t stop won’t stop!!!! -KATHY POBLETE-PHAM Although a beginner to Pure Barre, I decided to participate in the 42 day challenge, and decreased my body fat percentage by almost 9%!!! I have to confess that this challenge has done me very well.....to believe in me...and to feel my best! Another one of my confessions is that when I started Pure Barre I had a very different idea of who I was physically. During the 42 day challenge, I paid attention when Bekah, Heather, Amy, Christy, Melissa, Megan, Ashley...all of these beautiful women were saying in class "nice Claudia!" or "perfect Claudia!" but I thought there was another Claudia in the class! I realize they were talking to me and now I believe in myself...that Claudia is ME!!!! Pure Barre and this challenge has created the new FOREVER ME!!!! Thank you, thank you PBTW for these 42 days!
